The devastating wildfires and their consequences have once again mobilized the shipping community, which in recent years has systematically undertaken and implemented large-scale collective solidarity initiatives. Following the recent events, the most effective ways of providing assistance to the wildfire-affected citizens and regions will be immediately evaluated in cooperation with the State, drawing on the experience from the three-year support program for the fires in Mati, which was implemented by SYN-ENOSIS.

Mr. Theodoros Veniamis, President of the Union of Greek Shipowners and of SYN-ENOSIS, stated: ‘Deeply shaken by the extent of the great destruction caused by the wildfire disaster, our shipping family strongly feels the responsibility to offer support and solidarity to our society. It is our firm decision to once again stand by our fellow citizens and the State, as supporters in addressing the needs of the day after.
